Why doesn’t the Smart Data Protector block all scripts on a website?
With our Smart Data Protector, you can easily block a list of data processing services. The full list of supported technologies can be found here.
Nevertheless, we do not block ALL scripts on a website automatically with it. Here are the reasons for that:- Usercentrics works directly on a data processing service level. We do not block cookies but the service that may then set them. If we simply block all scripts by default, we will not be able to tell which script belongs to which data processing service.
- If we blocked all scripts, this would most likely break your website. To prevent that, we block each data processing service individually and also give you the option to decide for each single service whether or not it should be accepted by default.
- For visual services like YouTube, Google Maps, and others, we show an overlay with legal content that’s relevant for this specific service. This would not be possible when blocking everything that we find on your website.
- Further, you can decide for each supported service whether or not it should be blocked by the Smart Data Protector.
Does Usercentrics offer the possibility to share User Consent between domains?
Yes, given that the same Javascript is implemented on the domains on which the transfer is to take place. This can be done via our function "Cross Domain Consent Sharing".
Can different banners per (corporate) website be played out?
Yes, you can create any number of CMP installations for a group/company in our Enterprise package and also design them individually.
Is Usercentrics blocked by adblockers?
At this stage, we are unaware of any ad blocking technology that would block the Usercentrics CMP.
What does the DPS Scanner do?
The Usercentrics DPS Scanner tracks URL calls originating from a website. By reviewing the data captured in the DPS Scanner, you can learn about the integrated data processing services and technologies used on the site. The data also includes third-party and piggyback loaded Data Processing Services. The aim of the DPS Scanner is to identify Data Processing Services that have not yet been integrated into the Consent Management Platform. Please note that the DPS Scanner Report is only included in the Business Advanced and Enterprise packages.
Why are cookies, which have been set once, not deleted again?
The Usercentrics CMP does not impact cookies that were previously set. The CMP blocks technologies such as cookies and tags until the user chooses otherwise. Once the user agrees, the respective technology can then set cookies, fire tracking pixels and use other tracking methods.
If a user changes his or her mind in the course of the session and opposes a technology, the CMP will block the technology from that point on. And in the case of a cookie it will automatically expire at the end of its lifespan.
Will the forthcoming Google Chrome third-party update affect Usercentrics?
No, we store our information in what we call LocalStorage, which behaves differently than cookies. Our CMP will continue to function normally in Chrome (for now).
Where are the servers for data processing and storage located?
The servers are located in the EU. Our API server is located in Frankfurt while the Consent Database is located in Belgium. If necessary, we can access various EU servers as needed.
How can we recognize the country of origin of the user visiting your website?
We can tell by the IP address.
Is there an API (Application Programming Interface)?
Yes, there is an API available for our partners to programmatically create settings. We offer our customers the possibility to programmatically control the functionality of the CMP using window functions (JavaScript API).
We do not provide an API for the retrieval of user consents.
Is there a way to automatically detect the services used on the site?
Yes, you can either use a crawler or a DPS Scanner. We recommend browser extensions like Ghostery or Disconnect for this purpose. Another option is that you use the Usercentrics’ DPS Scanner which is included in the Business Advanced package.
Can I implement Usercentrics CMP into my mobile application?
Yes, the Usercentrics CMP can be implemented into Android and iOs applications by directly implementing the Javascript.
